Prince PTT - The Gringo with the tissue box guitar

Prince PTT had to make a musical instrument for this week's show and tell. Here he is struttin' his stuff with a tissue box guitar complete with sombrero and moustache that was actually meant for Mr PTT to wear to the Hong Kong 7's. I think he can pull the whole look off - don't you?

The first Hot Cross bun of the season...

Don't you just love the first Hot Cross bun of the season? Here's Prince PTT with a prime example...

I know people are divided on the orange peel issue but I, for one, am a fan...

One of the bad things about being an expat....

I have a piece of sad news for you.... C is officially leaving the fold mid-year. Here is her daughter G with  Prince PTT. There are so many things we will miss about C... her love of shopping... her enthusiasm for Hong Kong and all it has to offer...  the events she arranged for us to go to through the Australian Association. C and I are from the same city back home in Australia and we have a lot of mutual friends so we'll still see each other a couple of times a year but I know the other Hong Kong girls will miss her greatly. Plus G is like a big sister to Prince and Princess PTT so I know they will really miss her.

Stay tuned for some GREAT goodbye parties!

Hong Kong 7's Weekend

This weekend marked the official start of warmer weather in Hong Kong. For some reason, this always coincides with the Hong Kong 7's Rugby. Of course, M, N and I took advantage of all that the warmer weather had to offer...

On Wednesday, M, N and I went to an Australian Association event where we could meet the Australian 7's team. Personally, I was shocked how young most of them were. I mean, some were still at high school! N didn't seem to mind though.... and don't worry Mr F.... T took his shirt off for a charity auction!

On Friday, M and I kicked off with a little luncheon at Oolaa... you can tell that's M I'm cheering because of her ubiquitous over sized feature ring....

N picked us up and whisked us to her husband's corporate box... soo much better than the South Stand vulgarity!

For those of you who are actually interested in rugby... here's some stadium views!

Brother PTT, Princess PTT and Afternoon Tea

Princess PTT loves Brother PTT which is adorable to see... Here he is picking her up from school...

Today, Y and I indulged in a little shopping and then we headed to Upper House for afternoon tea...

Tres delicious...

Such juxtaposition to the vulgarity of Shenzhen which we will attack tomorrow...

Brother PTT and Y at L'etage, Yardbird and Feather Boa

One of our current new favourites in ye old Hong Kong town is Yardbird - a Japanese influenced restaurant dedicated to the art of chicken...

Yard Bird has a no reservation policy so we toddled down to L'etage for an aperitif. L'etage is fairly new as well and does a good line in moscow mules served in little copper cups.

Our Yardbird table was finally ready so it was time for the ubiquitous cheers and menu perusal..

One of Yardbird's signature dishes is KFC - Korean Fried Cauliflower. I'd describe it as ambrosia on a chopstick...

Here's Mr PTT and Brother PTT tucking into the KFC and the corn tempura...

Here I am... obviously someone had just told a mighty good joke...

I wore a Zara LBD with pleated skirt in case you were wondering and my hair was pony-tailed due to the high humidity...

Next came various parts of chicken on sticks... here are the wings...

Here's my personal favourite - chicken meatball which you dip into raw egg... (actual rather macabre when I think about it in the light of the day but tres delicious in the moment)

Here's Brother PTT enjoying every bite... he's come a long way... as a child he'd pretty much eat a selection of about 5 foods on rotation...

We finished with a chicken skin and pea rice dish... nice... but very rich and heavy... I think next time we'll stick to the sticks...

After dinner, I just had to take Y to Feather Boa for a chocolate strawberry daiquiri... I had everything crossed that we were allowed in but the gods were with us as WE ACTUALLY GOT A TABLE!!! Here's an illicit shot as you aren't supposed to have cameras inside ;-)

Brother PTT and Y doing the tourist trail...

After a rather debaucherous night at Hutong, Brother PTT, Y, Mr PTT and I went for a restorative walk up the Peak...

Luckily, the weather was somewhat clearer so we could actually make out the city...

We did the tourist thing and took the Peak Tram down....

Here's Mr PTT and Brother PTT...

After brunch at Press Room, we split into teams... The boys went to Wanchai computer market and the girls went shopping... no surprises there!

Princess PTT at play

I just had to share with you this photo of Princess PTT at play before ballet earlier this week....

I think it is a lovely picture of childhood innocence...

Brother PTT and Y come to town!

Brother PTT and his beautiful girlfriend Y came to Hong Kong for a couple of days on their way home from Koh Samui.

Y had never been to our little part of the world so of course we had to show her everything that the Fragrant Harbour has to offer...

We took the Aqua Luna junk for a little spin around the harbour...

Here's Brother PTT with Mr PTT in ambiguous profile...

We then went to Aqua Bar for some pre-dinner cocktails and to see the 8pm light show. I had a ginger Bellini. I'm loving ginger in cocktails at the moment - so refreshing...

Next we went downstairs to one of our favourite Hong Kong restaurants, Hutong. Here I am nibbling on a lima bean and perusing the menu...

Y and I indulged in some Lychee Wine because it would have been rude not to... Plus any cocktail that comes in a tea pot has my name written all over it...

Here's some visuals of the delicious Hutong food... I particularly loved the lamb and fennel dumplings...

Delicious steak and onion stir fry and chili prawns...

Here's Brother PTT's favourite... deconstructed lamb ribs...

Unfortunately, we also came for the view but Hong Kong had other ideas... I've never seen the mist this bad.

After dinner we were invited to put a wish on the wishing tree... I wonder what Brother PTT and Y wished for?

In this weeks news....

This week, in the free English speaking daily newspaper, there was an article about a visitor overstaying his Visa (but you quickly found out he was locked in a flat?!) and illegally working as a male prostitute.

Anyway, I've included it in this week's round up as I love the line in the second last paragraph that states that the prosecution used the fact that the only reason Parker (the prostitute) was able to shout and save himself was the Wan (his Jailer) gave him something to eat?! Should Wan have done this? How long had it been since Parker ate? It says he was paid yet he was locked up?! So many questions that we'll never know the answer to...

I'll leave you to have a ponder...

My question is why?

My friend's dear helper picks us up a copy of the free English language newspaper and drops it at our door every morning. How's that for lovely? Some of the articles make me laugh... as you can see below, South Korean and Russian scientists are going to 'recreate' a woolly mammoth. Apparently the embryos will be planted in some poor unsuspecting Elephant's wombs. Wonder what they plan to do with the herd if it works?

I'll let you ponder over this one and make up your own opinion...

I for one am not a fan...

The Science Museum Excursion

I volunteered to help out with Prince PTT's science museum excursion today...

I have even more admiration for teachers now... They always say children act so much better at school than at home but I didn't see any evidence of it! Here's a couple of very bad pictures as the kids didn't stop moving for the three hours they were at the museum...

Prince PTT's time to shine

One of Prince PTT's modelling agencies requested his presence this week. This one uses their kids for 'back of toy box' photos and Toys R Us catalogues in Northern Europe.

The only reason I got Prince PTT into modelling was that I thought that it would be cute to have a couple of these boxes and catalogues in his baby book. Turns out that Prince PTT is a natural and he loves it.

Here is Prince PTT waiting for his photo call dressed fetchingly as a werewolf.

The agency is lovely and they 'pay' Prince PTT in toys; which I guess to a young child is the female adult equivalent of the infamous fashion closet at a glossy magazine. Here is Prince PTT with his loot...

Here he is at home unveiling the treasures to Princess PTT. He's a good big brother and always brings home a selection for her as well.

A star is born!

Hello Dear Readers,

Its been a bit frantic here at PTT Hong Kong Headquarters, hence my lack of posts. However please be assured that I have dutifully taken all the photos for every recent event world so for those of you who subscribe, be prepared for a flurry of PTT emails!

Princess PTT had her first ballet recital today. She's been practising hard for weeks and made us so proud. We had to be at The Canadian International School promptly at 3:30. The girls then needed to go downstairs for an hour to get hair checked, make up done and fascinators attached whilst the audience enjoyed a rather civilised tea buffet. My heart dropped a little when Princess PTT initially tearfully refused to go downstairs but thankfully her friend arrived and saved the day as she was happy enough to go to the 'no parent zone' with her.

Mr PTT had a lovely 'daddy' moment helping Princess PTT with her ballet slippers...

The whole ballet school (130 students ranging from age 3 to adult) wore the same costume in different colours depending on what class the student was in. I was rather hoping for pink but Princess PTT's class was assigned this rather fetching 'kermit-the-frog' green...

en masse they looked quite cute though....

Earlier in the day Prince PTT and I dashed out in the rain to the florist to get Princess PTT some flowers. Thank goodness we did as the armfuls of bouquets that most of the other students got were amazing. Princess PTT's daisies looked a little homespun but hey! its the thought that counts!

Our baby ballerina was exhausted on the way home...
