Ballerina Princess PTT

I went to Princess PTT's Ballet open class this afternoon. One word... adorable! She's been doing it for a year now. I love their old school kitchen curtain skirts, don't you?

Embracing Multicultural Schooling

One of my favourite things about educating Prince and Princess PTT in Hong Kong is they have the opportunity they have to be truly multicultural. I've heard of State Schools in Australia that are so nervous about offending certain groups that they celebrate nothing, making for a very bland education in my books. Prince and Princess PTT's schools in Hong Kong tend to go the opposite way and embrace everything and I love it!

Here's Princess PTT with her Diwali Bindi:

And here's the Diyas the kids make every year at school. I'm starting to amass quite a collection!

Later in the year, Princess PTT will be an Angel in her school Nativity play. Instead of taking their children out of the activity, the Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist parents excitedly video and photograph their children as they shine in the spotlight as they consider it their turn to learn about another religion.

In other news, Princess PTT has rekindled her relationship with her baby toys. I think she sensed I was about to have a clear out.

What we've been up to...

I haven't written for a while as we've had visitors in town and I've been playing tourist guide. Now that things are back on track, I promise more regular instalments of the life and times of a Pseudo Tai Tai. If you've been wondering what we've been up to... here's a round up:

Prince and Princess PTT learnt to drive on a trip to Disney...

Princess PTT fell in love and was a bit annoyed that she had some competition...

She did what any sane girl would do in her situation and went all 'single white female' on Cinders...

We did a bit of time-telling education at the its a small world ride...

There were some great street artists at Disney on our visit. I'd like to be this innovative with a bucket of water and a broom...

Meanwhile, in other news, Prince PTT had his school disco. The theme was 'crazy hats' - I think his choice was exemplary...

We managed to have a little catchup with the girls at good ol' Baccar on Saturday evening to celebrate M's birthday...

Here's the birthday girl in all her feature ring glory...

We have also discovered the best frozen yoghurt place in town 'Red Mango'. It's ambrosia in a cup...

What have you been up to?

Princess PTT out and about...

Princess PTT and I did a little post pre-school retail therapy today. On the way down to town, Princess PTT always likes to stop and look at Mrs B's Cakery's latest offerings. She's now coveting this creation for her next birthday party...

I have until December so I may be able to afford the top tier by then.

Please note that Princess PTT is wearing shorts! This has been a major fashion victory on my part as previously Princess PTT would never condone anything below her hips that didn't consist of a twirling skirt. We have now negotiated a deal whereby if she succumbs to shorts one day, she can wear a dress the next. Don't get me wrong, I love a little girl in a dress, but I love wardrobe variety even more!

In other news, Princess PTT has discovered the joys of the iPhone 4S camera and likes to use it with gay abandon whenever she can. Do I predict a future junior PTT blog? Perhaps! Here's a great visual she took of her leg complete with her favourite sparkly heels...

Princess PTT at play

I just had to share with you this photo of Princess PTT at play before ballet earlier this week....

I think it is a lovely picture of childhood innocence...

A star is born!

Hello Dear Readers,

Its been a bit frantic here at PTT Hong Kong Headquarters, hence my lack of posts. However please be assured that I have dutifully taken all the photos for every recent event world so for those of you who subscribe, be prepared for a flurry of PTT emails!

Princess PTT had her first ballet recital today. She's been practising hard for weeks and made us so proud. We had to be at The Canadian International School promptly at 3:30. The girls then needed to go downstairs for an hour to get hair checked, make up done and fascinators attached whilst the audience enjoyed a rather civilised tea buffet. My heart dropped a little when Princess PTT initially tearfully refused to go downstairs but thankfully her friend arrived and saved the day as she was happy enough to go to the 'no parent zone' with her.

Mr PTT had a lovely 'daddy' moment helping Princess PTT with her ballet slippers...

The whole ballet school (130 students ranging from age 3 to adult) wore the same costume in different colours depending on what class the student was in. I was rather hoping for pink but Princess PTT's class was assigned this rather fetching 'kermit-the-frog' green...

en masse they looked quite cute though....

Earlier in the day Prince PTT and I dashed out in the rain to the florist to get Princess PTT some flowers. Thank goodness we did as the armfuls of bouquets that most of the other students got were amazing. Princess PTT's daisies looked a little homespun but hey! its the thought that counts!

Our baby ballerina was exhausted on the way home...

Princess PTT's Questionable Mothering Skills

Is it concerning that today when Princess PTT was playing with her dolls she put a blankie around one and put her in front of the iPad with the words "Aunty is just in the kitchen, Mummy is just popping out to the shops"?!

She did come back to give the poor baby snuggle time and bought her a present at the 'shops'. And the baby had just done three hours of Montessori school and had walked the 20 minutes there and back so probably needed a little break...

Thoughts?

Princess PTT attends a Spa Party at age 4 - what next?

Princess PTT went to a 'Spa' birthday party this afternoon...

Here she is in full party regalia complete with standard silver stilettos (as you do when you are 4)...

The girls enjoyed their pedicures. They then had makeup sessions and hair up-do's with silver glitter spray... Guess I'll have to get my thinking cap on for Princess PTT's own extravaganza later in the year...

My friend C, mother of the birthday girl, is a dab had at baking.... I wish I'd taken a better photo of her magnificent cake creation...

Princess PTT's Winter 2012 Fashion Highlights

I'm sure you'll agree that Princess PTT has been displaying some exemplary fashion moments during the 2011-2012 winter season...

Mr PTT's nightly post bath towel couture excepted:

She's definitely a dress girl... I have to really talk her into wearing pants, shorts or even a denim skirt. She's easily bribed though...

More is More

Coco Chanel's famous quote, "take one thing off before you leave the house" falls on deaf ears as far as Princess PTT is concerned.

She's definitely in the more is more camp...

Princess PTT and I had a twin moment this afternoon in our boots!

Princess PTT's first up-style and Hong Kong just keeps getting bigger...

Princess PTT is very excited as her hair is now long enough to braid. She's been embracing the braid with gusto ever since...

Meanwhile, there's no slowing Hong Kong's building works. Here's a look at the great big pile of mess they've created in front of IFC...

In other news, just look at the sky today...

If you squint hard enough you could almost believe you were in a tropical paradise... maybe that's a stretch too far but a sky this blue around these parts is a rarity!

A Bevy of Princesses...

Princess PTT rocked it at a princess party on Sunday. Here she is channelling her inner Snow White:

Here's the rest of the Princesses...

There were frills, hoops and tiaras as far as the eye could see. I could hardly squish Princess PTT into a taxi for all the poofiness around her. As you can see, Princess PTT dusted off her silver stilettos for the occasion...

Don't you just love 4 year old little girls?

Princess PTT on the loose in Central

Princess PTT and I swung down to ye old Central town after school today to do a few chores. Princess PTT was quite taken with Louis Vuitton's latest window offering - a gigantic sparkling vanilla cupcake topped with cherry stilettos. I then took it upon myself to expand her french education by giving her a Joel Robuchon croissant for lunch. You can't ever accuse me of not taking an idea and running with it.

O' Christmas Tree

Today Nanny PTT, Aunty J, Prince and Princess PTT and I went to pick up our first Australian live Christmas tree.

Prince and Princess PTT with Aunty J...

Arriving at the Christmas Tree shop...

Prince PTT and I selecting...

Aunty J and Princess PTT had different opinions...

You'd be happy to note that Princess PTT had new shoes for the occasion. Ignore the nails... she's obviously in need of a pedi...

Prince PTT purchasing...

The tree arriving with assistance from Mr PTT's dad, Grand M...

Unfortunately, we were met with high drama on our first attempt at assembling the tree as it was too wonky to fit into the base. They don't make it as easy as you see in the movies... you know: cute guy arrives with tree that looks light as a feather slung over one shoulder and an elegantly wrapped gift for his wife in his other hand. He then places tree ceremoniously yet easily on a stand and the whole family decorates it whilst the adults sip glasses of bubbly...

Our tree decorating ceremony didn't go quite like that... The tree spent the night languishing in a bucket of water until Grandad PTT could put his carpentry skills to good use. Princess PTT embraced the spirit by nominating herself as "Official Cleaner of the Pine Needles". Do you like her Hong Kong Cheongsam? I thought it was cute as well!

Grandad PTT and Prince PTT made this super strong superior base...

When the tree was finally up and stable, we thought about going minimalistic this year and just decorating it with Princess PTT...

But as you know... we are never knowingly under-christmassed so we lashed out and went the whole hog...

Don't think I didn't have a Tognini's Fruit Mince Pie and admired the lights once Prince and Princess PTT went to bed. Well, wouldn't you?

The whole house now smells of pine, it's just beautiful!
